Joseph Aloba, father of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has urged the Nigeria Police to summon his son’s brother, Adura Aloba, and wife, Omowunmi Cynthia Adebanjo, for questioning over the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.

His appeal follows a press conference organized by Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi, where a video allegedly sent by Adura was played, sparking renewed suspicions about Mohbad’s passing.

In a statement sent to PUNCH Metro on Tuesday, Aloba claimed his attempts to reach Adura, who was reportedly in the house at the time of Mohbad’s death, had been obstructed. He accused Mohbad’s mother, Abosede, of preventing him and other family members from speaking with Adura about what transpired on the fateful day.

“I am calling on the Nigeria Police to summon my son, Adura Aloba, and Omowunmi Cynthia Adebanjo to provide insights into the death of my son, Ilerioluwa. This is due to the recent world press conference organized by Mr. Yomi Fabiyi regarding the alleged video Adura Aloba reportedly sent to him—suspected to be linked to Mohbad’s tragic demise in his home,” the statement read.

Aloba also expressed concerns about Adura’s silence, stating that he had not publicly spoken about the incident, which raised further suspicion.

During a recent television interview, Aloba reiterated his frustration, claiming that unidentified individuals were influencing Adura’s reluctance to speak. “This is a clear case of meddling, which is tantamount to obstructing the wheel of justice,” he said.

However, he urged authorities to ensure Adura’s safety, describing him as a key witness in the case. “I urge the police to provide security to ensure their safety now and whenever they come forward to share knowledge with the authorities. I believe their cooperation and testimony could be instrumental in shedding light on the circumstances leading to Mohbad’s death,” he added.

Meanwhile, reports suggested that Mohbad’s wife had recently been invited by the police for questioning. However, her lawyer, Taiwo Olawanle, denied these claims, stating, “That was not true. I still spoke to her on Thursday. So, she is not under any arrest.”

The police are yet to release an official statement regarding Aloba’s request.
