An auxiliary nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, has provided a detailed account of the events leading to the death of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

Testifying before the coroner’s inquiry at the Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, on Saturday, Ogedengbe explained how she was contacted on September 11, 2023, by Ayobami Sodiq, also known as ‘Spending,’ to administer a tetanus injection to a friend who had suffered a hand injury.

Due to heavy traffic, she was unable to visit that day but arrived at the residence in Orchid Estate, Lekki, on September 12 at around 2:30 pm, where she discovered that her patient was Mohbad.

Ogedengbe recounted that the singer’s right hand was swollen, prompting her to administer a tetanus injection along with paracetamol and ceftriaxone to treat pain and a suspected bacterial infection. However, Mohbad began to feel unwell during the procedure, complaining of nausea before vomiting and developing goosebumps.

His wife reportedly told her that this was a normal reaction and began pouring water on him. As his condition worsened, efforts were made to find medication at a nearby pharmacy. However, before the necessary drugs could be administered, Mohbad’s health deteriorated further, leading to an urgent rush to the hospital.

Ogedengbe narrated how heavy traffic forced Mohbad to be transported on a motorcycle, but despite efforts at multiple hospitals, he was declared dead upon arrival.

She was cross-examined by lawyers representing Mohbad’s family, his wife, and the Lagos State government. The case has been adjourned to March 21, 2025, for further hearings.
