A Magistrate Court in Sabo, Yaba, Lagos State, Nigeria has acquitted popular musician Abdulazeez Fashola, known as Naira Marley, of any involvement in the death of Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly called Mohbad.

Presiding over the case on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje implemented the legal advice issued by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), which found no evidence linking Naira Marley to the incident. Alongside him, music promoter Samson Balogun (Sam Larry), Owodunni Ibrahim (PrimeBoy), and Mohbad’s former manager, Opere Babatunde, were also cleared of any wrongdoing.

However, the DPP has ordered the prosecution of auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe and Mohbad’s friend, Ayobami Sadiq. They will face charges for reckless and negligent acts under Section 251 (e) of the Lagos State Criminal Law. Their trial is set to proceed at the Magistrate Court.

The ruling comes months after widespread speculation and controversy surrounding Mohbad’s death, with many initially suspecting foul play.
