Two prominent Nigerian figures have been recognized on TIME Magazine’s prestigious 2025 list of the world’s 100 most influential people. Media entrepreneur Mo Abudu and award-winning chef Kwame Onwuachi were honored for their groundbreaking contributions to global culture and entertainment.

Mo Abudu, founder and CEO of EbonyLife Group, was celebrated for her transformative impact on African storytelling. Through her media empire spanning film production, television networks, and creative academies, Abudu has reshaped international perceptions of African narratives.

“Her visionary leadership has created platforms that amplify authentic African voices worldwide,” the magazine noted. Hollywood star Idris Elba, who is collaborating with Abudu on an upcoming film project, praised her as “a force of nature with an infectious, can-do attitude.”

Joining her on the list is Kwame Onwuachi, the Nigerian-American chef revolutionizing global cuisine. Known for his Washington D.C. restaurant Dogon, Onwuachi has gained international acclaim for his innovative fusion of West African and Caribbean flavors.

Actress Keke Palmer, who penned Onwuachi’s TIME tribute, described him as “the embodiment of brilliance and passion – a chef whose cultural heritage shines through every dish.”

This dual recognition marks a significant moment for Nigerian cultural influence on the world stage, showcasing the country’s growing impact across media and culinary arts. Both honorees have been credited with breaking barriers and creating new opportunities for African creatives in their respective fields.

The TIME100 list, now in its 20th year, recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional influence through their work, achievements, and impact on society. Abudu and Onwuachi join other global leaders, innovators, and cultural icons in this year’s selection.
