In a significant victory against insurgent groups, the Nigerian Army has reported the elimination of more than 60 terrorists in a coordinated military operation in Bita, Borno State. The operation, conducted by troops of Operation Hadin Kai, involved both land and air assaults and took place in the early hours of Friday, May 30, 2025.

The Army Headquarters confirmed the success of the mission in a brief statement released on the official Facebook page. The statement highlighted the precision and coordination of the attack, which targeted terrorist strongholds in the region. The intense gun battle resulted in the neutralization of at least 60 terrorists, dealing a heavy blow to the insurgent forces.

This operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian military to combat Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), which have been responsible for widespread violence and instability in northern Nigeria. Earlier this week, similar military actions in New Marte, Marte local government area of Borno State, led to the deaths of dozens of terrorists.

Despite the success of the operation, the military mourned the loss of two brave soldiers who died during the encounter. Their sacrifice underscores the challenges faced by Nigerian forces in maintaining security and peace in the region.

The Nigerian Army continues to intensify its efforts to restore stability and protect civilians from terrorist threats in the northeast. This recent victory marks a critical step forward in the ongoing fight against insurgency in Nigeria.
