Famed boxer Mike Tyson, 57, experienced a medical scare onboard a flight from Miami to Los Angeles over the weekend. According to his representatives, the Hall of Fame fighter is now “doing great.”
The incident occurred on Sunday just minutes before landing. Tyson’s representatives explained, “He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare-up 30 minutes before landing. He is appreciative of the medical staff that were there to help him.” The flight had also been delayed for two hours because of an air conditioning issue on the aircraft.
An ulcer, as noted by the Centers for Disease Control, is a sore or hole in the lining of the stomach or the first part of the small intestine.
Despite the health scare, Tyson is preparing for his return to the ring on July 20, where he will face boxer and YouTuber Jake Paul at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. This match will be Tyson’s first sanctioned fight since his retirement in 2005, making him 58 years old at the time of the bout.
