Maiduguri’s General Muhammadu Buhari International Airport is set to begin full international operations by January 1, 2025.
This development follows a recent one-day work visit to the facility by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development in Nigeria, Festus Keyamo, along with other delegates.
According to reports, the airport is undergoing significant upgrades to enhance connectivity for the North East Zone and to strengthen Maiduguri’s role in international air travel and cargo transportation.
During the visit, Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, praised Keyamo for his work in Nigeria’s aviation sector and reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting the successful launch of international flights in January 2025.
Keyamo emphasized the project’s significance, stating that the General Muhammadu Buhari International Airport will be the first fully operational international airport in the North East Zone, symbolizing both growth and resilience for the region.
