Lucy Letby, already convicted as Britain’s most prolific child serial killer, has been handed another whole-life order for the attempted murder of a baby girl. Judge James Goss sentenced Letby at Manchester Crown Court on Friday, condemning her actions as “another shocking act of calculated, callous cruelty.”

Letby, 34, was found guilty earlier this week of attempting to murder the baby girl at the neo-natal unit of the Countess of Chester Hospital in 2016. This conviction comes nearly a year after she was convicted of murdering seven newborns and attempting to kill six others, for which she is already serving a whole-life prison sentence.

Judge Goss criticized Letby for her lack of remorse, stating, “During the course of this trial you have coldly denied any responsibility for any offences and sought to attribute wrongdoing to others.” Letby, maintaining her innocence, declared, “I’m innocent,” as she was led from the dock.

This latest conviction reinforces Letby’s status as the most notorious child serial killer in the UK.
