Four individuals, including a final-year student of Summit University, Offa, Adebayo Happiness, were arraigned at a Chief Magistrate Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, over the alleged murder of Awesu Mojisola, a 21-year-old graduate of the Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa.
The incident allegedly occurred on August 10, 2024, at Whitefield Hotel, Ilorin, where Happiness reportedly lured Mojisola under the pretext of attending a post-graduation party.
The suspects, Adebayo Happiness, his parents (Adebayo Adeniyi, 51, and Bukola Adeniyi, 49), and an accomplice, Timileyin Kolawole, face charges including criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, theft, false personation, and causing the disappearance of evidence, contrary to various sections of the Penal Code and Cybercrime Prevention and Prohibition Law.
According to the prosecution led by ASP Isaac Yakub, the victim, Awesu Mojisola, was reported missing on August 14 by her roommate, Blessing Ogungbenro, after Mojisola attended a purported sign-out party organized by Happiness. The investigation revealed that Happiness had deliberately lured Mojisola and subsequently killed her, abandoning her body in a hotel room before fleeing with her money and phone.
The court did not take the suspects’ plea, and the Chief Magistrate, Wahab Saka, ordered their remand at the Federal Correctional Centre, Oke Kura, Ilorin. The case was adjourned until September 12, 2024, for further hearing.
