Kwara State government officials have confirmed that there are currently no active cases of Lassa fever in the state.
The announcement came as health authorities monitored the situation closely and assured residents that surveillance and response efforts remain in place to prevent any potential outbreaks.
According to the health officials, recent surveillance activities did not identify any ongoing infections, and those previously affected have recovered fully.
The state’s Ministry of Health emphasised the importance of maintaining public awareness about preventive measures, including proper sanitation and safe food practices, to reduce the risk of future cases.
Authorities also reiterated that health facilities are prepared to respond swiftly should any suspected cases emerge, and they encouraged residents to report symptoms early and seek medical care if necessary.
The confirmation of no active cases brings some relief to communities that had been vigilant about the risks of Lassa fever, especially during peak seasons.
