In a disturbing twist to a kidnapping case in Kaduna State, abductors have released Pastor Samson Ndah Ali of ECWA Mararaba Aboro Church while detaining the church financial secretary who delivered the ransom payment.

The 30-year-old cleric, only two weeks into his pastoral assignment in Sanga Local Government Area, was seized from his home on April 8. After initial demands of ₦100 million, the kidnappers accepted an undisclosed sum brought by church official Yusuf Shehu Ambi – only to hold him captive after the transaction.

Local sources confirmed the shocking development: “The pastor walked free, but the elderly man who risked his life to deliver the ransom is now being held. Our community is terrified and confused by this betrayal.”

Security agencies have yet to comment on the incident, which highlights growing concerns about kidnappers’ changing tactics in Nigeria’s northwest region. Church members describe Ambi as a respected 62-year-old volunteer who managed congregation finances.

This marks the third kidnapping incident in Sanga LGA this month, despite increased military operations in the area. Community leaders are pleading for government intervention as families grapple with the emotional and financial toll of ransom negotiations.
