American rapper Kendrick Lamar has been honored as Billboard’s ‘Greatest Pop Star’ of 2024, marking a significant milestone in his career and solidifying his status as one of the music industry’s most influential figures.

Lamar’s impressive dominance on the Billboard Hot 100 this year was fueled in part by his highly publicized hip-hop feud with Canadian rapper Drake. The rivalry spurred a wave of hit singles, including Lamar’s chart-topping track Not Like Us, which captivated fans worldwide.

This recognition makes Lamar the first rapper to receive the accolade since Drake in 2018, highlighting his unparalleled impact on both hip-hop and pop music.

Meanwhile, Mariah Carey’s holiday classic All I Want For Christmas Is You has achieved another historic feat. The song has tied with Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road and Shaboozey’s A Bar Song (Tipsy) as the longest-running number-one tracks on the Billboard Hot 100, each reigning for 17 weeks.

Notably, all three songs are led by Black artists, underscoring a significant cultural milestone in the music industry.
