The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, paid a visit to the Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode, in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, on Wednesday. The visit was to felicitate with the first-class traditional ruler on his 90th birthday celebration and 64th year on the throne.

Bayero described Awujale as his father, given their close association and the long-standing relationship between their families. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to tap into Awujale’s wisdom and experience, which he would cherish for a long time.

The Emir noted that Kano and Ijebu share a rich cultural and commercial heritage, comparing them to “twins” in terms of their commercial activities. He emphasized the importance of unity and harmony among Nigerians, echoing the sentiments of Governor Dapo Abiodun, who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Ganiyu Hamzat.

Awujale, in his response, reminisced about his cordial relationship with the late Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, and appreciated the visit by the current Emir. He called for continued unity and harmony among Nigerians, highlighting the significance of the royal visit in strengthening the bond between diverse tribes across the country.

The Emir of Kano was accompanied to the palace by distinguished personality from the Kano emirate council.
