
The death toll from a tragic accident along Saminaka Road in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Nigeria, has risen to 40, with most of the victims being children. The children were traveling to celebrate Eid-el Maulud when their J5 bus lost control and collided with an articulated vehicle due to overspeeding and overloading.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander, Kabiru Nadabo, initially confirmed 25 deaths following the accident, along with 48 others who sustained injuries. The injured were transported to various hospitals in Kaduna, Jos, and Kano for urgent medical attention. However, the number of fatalities increased to 40 as more victims succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.
The victims have been buried according to Islamic burial traditions in Lere Local Government.
