Damilola Ayinde Marshal, daughter of renowned Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has declared her intention to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The legal practitioner announced her decision to run for the Surulere Constituency 2 seat in a message shared on social media, where she expressed readiness to represent the people of the constituency and contribute to governance at the state level.
In her declaration, Marshal said she was stepping forward to serve the people and pledged to provide strong representation for residents of the constituency. She also emphasized her desire to give a voice to young people within the legislative process.
Marshal currently serves as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a position she was appointed to in May 2024.
She holds a law degree from North America University, Houdegbe in Cotonou, Benin Republic, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in December 2015. She later obtained a Master of Laws degree from the University of Lagos in 2022.
According to her, years of legal practice and public service have given her valuable insight into governance, justice and grassroots concerns, which she believes will help her effectively represent her constituency if elected.
Marshal said her decision to run was driven by a desire to bring energy, competence and development-focused leadership to the Lagos State House of Assembly.
She is seeking to succeed the current representative of Surulere Constituency 2 in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The aspiring lawmaker also urged voters to prioritise competence and development in choosing their representatives, stating that the time had come for younger leaders to take more active roles in shaping the future of governance.
