Former Super Eagles forward John Utaka has weighed in on the recent news of veteran player Ahmed Musa leaving the Nigerian national team camp to get married to his fourth wife, Asmau Moriki, in Kano. Musa departed the team’s camp following Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Ghana in the Unity Cup held in London.

Speaking on Brila FM, Utaka emphasized the importance of following proper protocols when it comes to national team matters. “We don’t know what discussions were held before Musa went to camp. It’s a national duty — things have to be done correctly,” he said.

Musa’s appearance against Ghana marked his first game for Nigeria since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, coming on as a second-half substitute in the tightly contested match.

This marriage to Asmau Moriki is Musa’s fourth. He was first married to Jamila in 2013, with whom he shares two children; they divorced in 2017 reportedly due to his desire to take a second wife. He then married Juliet Ejue from Ogoja, Cross River State, though that marriage also ended. In 2021, he married Mariam, his third wife, before his current marriage to Asmau Moriki.
