Marvel star Jeremy Renner has revealed he turned down a second season of Disney+’s Hawkeye after being offered half his initial salary, a decision he suggests may relate to his 2023 snowplow accident. The two-time Oscar nominee disclosed the contract dispute during an interview, explaining the reduced offer felt particularly insulting given his physical recovery.

“They asked me to do Season 2 for half the money,” Renner stated. “It’s going to take me twice the work for half the pay and eight months of my time. Did they think I’m only half the Jeremy because I got run over?” The actor suffered over 30 broken bones when his 14,330-pound Sno-Cat crushed him while helping his nephew in January 2023.

Renner emphasized the lowball offer came from Disney accountants rather than Marvel creative executives. While expressing continued love for his archer superhero role, he refused the deal on principle: “I didn’t ask for a raise – just pay me what I made the first season.” The first installment, co-starring Hailee Steinfeld and Florence Pugh, premiered in late 2021.

Though disappointed, the 54-year-old acknowledged his body may benefit from the break. He remains open to future Marvel projects under fair terms. The disclosure highlights ongoing tensions between studios and stars as streaming platforms reevaluate production budgets. Marvel has not commented on Renner’s claims.
