Former Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Jandor made the announcement on Monday, March 17, 2025, during a press conference at his Ikeja office, weeks after resigning from the PDP. He attributed his decision to the internal crises and lack of party discipline within the PDP, stating that the party failed to address anti-party activities during the 2023 general elections.
“Our story in the PDP was a case of working with perennial political saboteurs, but we have resolved to love our future much more than we hate our past,” he said.
He further explained that his decision followed extensive consultations with political associates, elder statesmen, and supporters who shared his vision for a better Lagos. According to him, the primary goal of any political party is to win elections and form a government that serves the people’s interests, something he believes the APC prioritizes.
Addressing concerns about his return to the APC after previously leaving, Jandor referenced a Yoruba proverb about learning from experience, emphasizing that leadership in the APC, despite its flaws, remains focused on winning and governance.
Jandor also acknowledged the role of key APC figures in persuading him to return, including President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu.
“Our return to the APC is not a decision made lightly. It reflects our commitment to Lagos State’s progress and the belief that unity among progressives is essential for achieving our people’s aspirations,” he stated.
He assured his supporters that the move was in Lagos’ best interest and urged them to join him in this new political chapter.
