The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the petition seeking to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has failed to meet constitutional requirements.
In a statement posted on its official X account on Thursday, INEC declared that the petition did not satisfy the conditions outlined in Section 69(a) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
“The petition for the recall of the Senator representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District has not met the requirement of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended),” INEC stated.
The decision marks a significant setback for those pushing for Akpoti-Uduaghan’s removal, as the recall process requires strict adherence to constitutional guidelines.
