The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has remained silent regarding the reported arrest of popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, at the Seme border.

The incident allegedly occurred on Monday while Bobrisky was attempting to flee to Benin Republic.

The news of the arrest was first shared by social media activist Martin Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM). In a video posted on Instagram, VDM claimed that Bobrisky was intercepted by immigration officers at the border amidst an ongoing investigation by the House of Representatives into bribery allegations involving officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

According to a message VDM displayed in his video, “Bobrisky was arrested this morning at Seme border post on his way to escape to Benin Republic. He sent someone to help him sign his international passport, and he hid in his car. The Nigerian Immigration Service is currently holding him.”

VDM has since called on both Bobrisky and the NIS to clarify the situation. However, despite the public outcry, the NIS has not confirmed nor denied the arrest. Multiple attempts to reach the National Spokesperson of the NIS, DCI Kenneth Udo, were unsuccessful as he did not respond to phone calls or messages.

As of now, the status of Bobrisky’s reported arrest remains unclear, with the immigration authorities yet to provide any official statement.
