The Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, announced that sponsors of the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests residing abroad have been placed on a watchlist. These individuals will be arrested upon their arrival in Nigeria.

“We have diaspora sponsors, they are on our watchlist. Any attempt they make to come into the country, we’ll be notified, and they will be picked up and handed to the appropriate authority,” Nandap disclosed during a meeting of security agency heads and Service Chiefs in Abuja on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.

To counter the protests, the Immigration Service has increased officer deployment to land borders and airports. Additionally, surveillance has been heightened to prevent foreign intervention.

The Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Bichi, represented by Public Relations Officer Peter Afunanya, revealed that some sponsors have been identified, and certain accounts linked to them have been blocked. “Some of the persons operating such accounts are staying abroad, and they are being monitored,” Afunanya stated.
