Donald Trump, sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, has pledged to immediately halt illegal entries and begin mass deportations of “criminal aliens.”

In his inaugural speech at the Capitol Rotunda on Monday, Trump declared, “All illegal entries will immediately be halted, and we will begin the process of returning millions of millions of criminal aliens back to the places from which they came.”

The Republican leader also announced plans to reinstate the controversial “Remain in Mexico” policy, which requires asylum seekers to wait in Mexico while their cases are processed. Additionally, he vowed to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the “Gulf of America.”

Trump, 78, took the oath of office alongside his Vice President, JD Vance, 40, promising to “bring free speech back to America” and uphold the country’s religious values.

Among the high-profile attendees were billionaires Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, alongside former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Trump’s predecessor, Joe Biden. However, former First Lady Michelle Obama was notably absent from the event.

Trump’s return to the presidency marks a historic comeback, making him the second U.S. president to serve two non-consecutive terms, after Grover Cleveland in the late 19th century. His speech reinforced his hardline stance on immigration and free speech, signaling a continuation of policies from his first administration.
