President Bola Tinubu has announced that he will adjust his schedule to visit Benue State on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, to pay a condolence visit to the people affected by the recent deadly attack in the Yelewata community. The attack, which occurred last Friday, left scores of residents dead and sparked widespread criticism of the president for not visiting the troubled state sooner.

Tinubu made the announcement on Monday while inaugurating the Greater Abuja Water Supply Network in the nation’s capital. He expressed sympathy for the people of Benue and those who lost loved ones in the attacks. The president urged the residents to manage their diversity, anger, and frustration, calling for unity among the people.

During his visit, President Tinubu is expected to meet with various stakeholders, including traditional rulers, political and religious leaders, community representatives, and youth groups. The goal of these meetings will be to seek lasting solutions to the hostilities and violence that have plagued the state.

The visit comes amid ongoing security challenges in Benue and other parts of Nigeria, with the federal government under pressure to restore peace and protect vulnerable communities.
