Nigerian actress Omowunmi Dada has opened up about a life-threatening experience while filming a project in Oyo State, revealing that she contracted sepsis and was abandoned in a hotel before being rushed to a hospital in Ibadan.
Her revelation came in response to a post by fellow actress Jemima Osunde, who recently shared her own battle with a severe stomach infection caused by contaminated food on a film set in Ibadan.
Dada, reacting to Osunde’s post on X.com, wrote, “My dear… I got sepsis on a project in Oyo, they literally left me in the hotel. Thank God my family and management got a car to take me to a hospital in Ibadan. I got there unconscious. It was sepsis, and I was lucky to be alive.”
Despite her critical condition, the actress disclosed that the production company demanded a full refund rather than showing concern for her health.
“Funny thing, production asked for a full refund. Hmm…,” she added.
Osunde, shocked by the revelation, replied, “OMG! Sepsis? Thank God for your life, sis! Thank God!”
She further recounted a similar experience, stating that after falling ill on set, she had to finance her treatment herself. The production team, instead of offering support, sent messages requesting a refund. However, her management countered their demand by highlighting contractual breaches, after which the company went silent.
Osunde had previously revealed that she was diagnosed with Helicobacter pylori, a stomach-infecting bacteria, after consuming contaminated food on set in Ibadan. She has since been battling gastroesophageal reflux disease as a result.
