Popular media personality and talk show host, Chinedu Emmanuel Ani, known as Nedu Wazobia, has spoken out about his recent departure from the Honest Bunch Podcast, clarifying that he was not fired but chose to step down due to mounting controversies surrounding the show.
At a news conference held on Thursday in Lagos, Nedu explained that his role on the podcast was to play the devil’s advocate, encouraging thought-provoking discussions and sparking debates. He emphasized that his job was to ask controversial questions and not to create personal conflicts.
“I decided to step away from the show rather than engage in petty fights,” Nedu said. “It ultimately boils down to what the public wants to believe, and I respect that.”
The controversy began when DeeOne, a reality star and comedian, alleged on the podcast that social media critic VeryDarkMan (VDM) had engaged in intimate relationships with men. VDM responded by accusing Nedu of orchestrating the allegations and leaking private conversations. VDM also accused Nedu of sexual exploitation, claiming that he had shared personal details about his relationships with women.
Despite rumors that Nedu was fired due to the controversy, he reiterated that his decision was voluntary. He further expressed his frustration with being misunderstood and revealed his intention to disconnect from public life.
“To be honest, I’m done being nice. My niceness has been taken for granted, and I’ve been abused by people who claim to be my friends. I’m done being nice,” he announced. Nedu also requested that anyone who had his contact details delete them, stating that he no longer wanted to be accessible to the public.
In response to the attacks on his character, Nedu’s management issued a statement condemning the false accusations. “We will not tolerate any further attacks on his character. Lawyers will take action to address these baseless allegations,” the statement read.
As Nedu steps away from the Honest Bunch Podcast, he aims to prioritize his well-being and focus on maintaining a positive public image moving forward.
