Nigerian Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has declared that she will never apologise for speaking the truth, despite mounting pressure to do so.
In a statement released on Monday and made available to journalists in Lokoja, the embattled senator insisted that she would not be intimidated, adding that the ongoing attempts to silence her were clear acts of desperation.
“I, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, stand firm in my resolve to never apologise for speaking my truth,” she said. “The desperation to silence me is palpable, but I will not be intimidated.”
She further accused certain individuals of hijacking public institutions for personal gain, vowing to expose their actions and hold them accountable.
“As a senator, I have a duty to represent my constituents and uphold the principles of justice and transparency. My allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio were not made lightly, and I will continue to seek justice and accountability, no matter the cost.”
Senator Natasha, who was recently suspended for six months, described her suspension as political victimisation and reaffirmed her commitment to advocating for Nigerian women and ensuring their voices are heard.
Dismissing reports that she had apologised to the Senate, she urged the public to disregard the claims, asserting that she remains steadfast in her pursuit of justice.
“I urge the public to ignore the viral report claiming that I apologised to the Senate, as it is entirely false. I will continue to stand by my truth and fight for what is right, even in the face of adversity,” she stated.
