Mudashiru Obasa, the impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has rejected his removal, insisting that he remains the rightful Speaker until due process is followed. He also denied allegations of corruption and financial mismanagement leveled against him by his colleagues.
Speaking at a welcome event in Ikeja GRA on Saturday, January 25, 2025, organized by supporters from Agege, Alimosho, and Kosofe local government areas, Obasa maintained that his impeachment did not follow constitutional procedures.
“I remain the Speaker until the proper constitutional process is adhered to,” Obasa declared.
He described the allegations of corruption as “impossible” and politically motivated, stating that he had always acted in the best interest of Lagosians.
“I am not disturbed, I am not afraid,” he told supporters at the Speaker’s Lodge in Ikeja GRA, dismissing accusations of financial misappropriation.
Obasa was impeached by his colleagues over alleged gross misconduct, but the development has sparked political debate within the state.
