Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has raised concerns over her safety, alleging that she and her one-year-old son, Liam, are facing continuous threats.
In a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Omowunmi claimed she receives death threats almost daily and has been attacked by her late husband’s former record label boss, Naira Marley, and his associates.
She further alleged that Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, is attempting to take control of the late singer’s assets and has been making damaging claims about her and her son.
“We no longer feel safe. I receive death threats almost every day. It has reached a point where I either speak up or suffer in silence,” Omowunmi said.
“My father-in-law, who officiated my marriage to Mohbad, was once happy about it, but now he calls our son a bastard. He claims Liam has bow legs, which don’t run in their family, and even alleged that my husband wanted to throw our baby into the Third Mainland Bridge,” she added.
Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Aloba, died under controversial circumstances in September 2023, shortly after exiting Naira Marley’s record label, Marlian Music. His death sparked widespread outrage, with many pointing fingers at Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry, who were captured in a viral video assaulting the singer before his demise.
Both men were arrested and arraigned on October 6, 2023, over their alleged involvement in the case but were later granted bail after pleading not guilty.
