Former President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed that he sustains himself financially through rental income from one of his two properties in Kaduna State.
Speaking in Hausa at an All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus meeting on January 25, 2025, held at the Presidential Banquet Hall in Katsina State, Buhari emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in public office.
The former president revealed that he owns only three houses—one in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, and two in Kaduna. According to him, one of the Kaduna properties has been rented out, and the proceeds serve as his primary source of income for daily living expenses.
His statement has sparked discussions about financial management after leaving office, particularly regarding the welfare of former leaders in Nigeria.
