Popular Nigerian actress and filmmaker, Omoni Oboli, has opened up about losing a movie role after refusing to kiss a director during an audition. She shared her experience during an interview on comedian AY’s ‘Glasshouse Show.’
The actress explained that the incident occurred when she returned to Nigeria after a break to raise her children abroad. Recounting the experience, Oboli said, “One director asked me to kiss him at an audition, and I couldn’t understand why he would do that. So I was like, ‘Is this an audition?’ and he was like, ‘Yeah, I just want to see.’”
Oboli expressed her discomfort and declined the request, adding, “I didn’t see any reason I would be kissing the director when we were not on set. So I said, ‘Oh no, sorry, I can’t.’” As a result, she did not get the role she had traveled for and had to return home without playing the part.
Her story sheds light on the challenges and inappropriate demands faced by actors in the film industry.
