Former President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed he left office with the same physical assets he possessed before his presidency, while calling on current leaders to prioritize citizens’ welfare over personal gain. The ex-leader made the remarks when hosting APC governors at his Kaduna residence during Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

Buhari emphasized that leadership presents both challenges and opportunities, urging the Progressive Governors Forum to maintain focus on national development. He thanked President Bola Tinubu’s administration for renovating his Kaduna home, noting that while external appearances remained unchanged, significant internal improvements were made.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, speaking for the delegation, praised Buhari’s legacy – particularly his anti-corruption stance, security gains, and agricultural reforms like the Anchor Borrowers Program. The governors credited Buhari for APC’s continued dominance, describing Tinubu’s administration as building on his predecessor’s progressive policies.

Political analysts note Buhari’s asset declaration claim reinforces his reputation for personal integrity, though some critics argue his administration’s economic policies exacerbated Nigeria’s current challenges. The meeting signals ongoing solidarity within APC leadership amid the country’s economic difficulties.
