Renowned Nollywood actress Ini Edo has revealed her long battle with infertility, disclosing that she has endured over six miscarriages and multiple failed in vitro fertilisation (IVF) attempts.
Speaking in a recent episode of the reality TV series Young, Famous, and African, the 42-year-old actress shared her deeply personal journey. She recounted how she got married at 26, hoping to complete her childbearing by 31. However, her plans were derailed by fertility challenges, ultimately leading her to opt for surrogacy.
“My journey is one that I have not really wanted to talk about because it is personal,” Edo said. “I never thought I would have fertility issues. But I have had trouble carrying pregnancies long-term, and it looked like it was not going to happen the way I wanted. So, this option came, and I took it.”
Reflecting on her marriage, Edo noted that since her divorce from US-based businessman Philip Ehiagwina in 2014, she has remained single, citing concerns about toxic relationships.
