Nollywood star Funke Akindele has addressed the massive N1.8 billion box office earnings of her latest film, Everybody Loves Jenifa, playfully reminding fans that the entire sum does not belong to her alone.
In a post on X.com on Saturday, Akindele acknowledged the impressive milestone but explained that the revenue is shared among various stakeholders, including cinemas, distributors, and tax authorities.
“I beg, no be only me get the 1.8 billion o! Cinema go collect, tax go collect, distributor go collect!” she wrote.
She also encouraged fans to continue their support and help push the film’s earnings to N2 billion.
“Maybe when I get to 2 billion naira, I fit settle. So please go see #eljthemovie in cinemas and take us to 2 billion naira. Thank you,” she added.
Akindele, known for her box office dominance, continues to solidify her reputation as one of Nollywood’s most commercially successful filmmakers.
