Blogger Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has disclosed how he came into possession of a controversial phone recording involving cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky. Otse made this revelation on Monday while appearing before a House of Representatives panel investigating allegations of bribery within the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
The blogger stated that the recording was obtained from an individual to whom Bobrisky allegedly owed money. This recording, according to VeryDarkMan, forms part of his claims that Bobrisky paid ₦15 million to the EFCC to drop money laundering charges against him following his naira-spraying incident in April.
“Bobrisky allegedly bribed his way out of the money laundering case,” Otse told the committee, reiterating the allegations he had previously made in a viral video.
Initially, the blogger refused to address the panel, citing Bobrisky’s absence despite the invitation. Bobrisky sent a legal representative instead, which led to a motion compelling VeryDarkMan to proceed with his address. Under pressure from his lawyer, the blogger eventually complied, submitting part of the recording as evidence to the committee.
Bobrisky has since denied these allegations, while both the EFCC and NCoS have launched investigations into the claims. Additionally, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has called on the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and the National Security Adviser (NSA) to conduct an independent probe into the accusations.
The investigation continues as the House panels seek further clarity on the alleged bribery and corruption within the EFCC and the prison system.
