Renowned Afro-Juju musician Sir Shina Peters has shared insights into his ordination as a bishop in the Cherubim and Seraphim Church of God, describing it as the fulfilment of a divine calling.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday, Peters recounted how the church leadership received divine instructions years before his ordination, which took place in 2021 in the Iju area of Lagos State.
“The Almighty God told me that I should be made the first bishop of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church of God,” Peters said. “He told the leaders of the church. God said this because I am the only musician who has consistently used hymns in my music and performances, and through this, I have won many souls for Christ.”
He admitted that he initially resisted the ordination, stating, “I tried to avoid the ordination for a while until God finally got me arrested.”
Reflecting on his career, Peters expressed contentment and gratitude for his achievements. “I am fulfilled; I am content. The only thing I now ask my creator for is to keep enlightening me with His word and to grant me the grace to draw closer to Him,” he said.
Peters, who has made significant contributions to gospel-inspired Afro-Juju music, hinted at upcoming projects, saying, “As for what my fans can expect, I will only say they should expect something unusual very soon.”
The musician also reflected on his journey, expressing gratitude for his longevity and the divine grace that has sustained him through the years.
