
Hollywood has officially unveiled the nominations for the 2025 Academy Awards, celebrating the finest films and performances from the past year. The announcement, initially scheduled for last week, was postponed twice due to wildfires in the Los Angeles area.
This year’s Best Picture category features a diverse lineup, including Anora, Dune: Part Two, Emilia Pérez, The Brutalist, and Wicked. In the acting categories, Adrien Brody (The Brutalist), Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown), and Colman Domingo (Sing Sing) are among the contenders for Best Actor, while Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Mikey Madison (Anora), and Demi Moore (The Substance) compete for Best Actress.
The Best Director category includes Jacques Audiard (Emilia Pérez), Sean Baker (Anora), Brady Corbet (The Brutalist), Coralie Fargeat (The Substance), and James Mangold (A Complete Unknown). Notably, Emilia Pérez leads in multiple categories, including Best International Feature and Best Supporting Actress for Zoe Saldaña.
Among the technical awards, Dune: Part Two, Nosferatu, and Wicked dominate nominations in cinematography, production design, and visual effects. The Best Animated Feature category features Inside Out 2, The Wild Robot, and Flow, while No Other Land and Porcelain War are in the running for Best Documentary Feature.
The 2025 Oscars promise a competitive race across all categories, with the ceremony set to take place on March 10 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
