Retired actress Dalyce Curry, celebrated for her performances in classics like ‘The Blues Brothers,’ ‘The Ten Commandments,’ and ‘Lady Sings the Blues,’ has tragically passed away amid the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles, Forbes reported on Monday. She was 95 years old.

Authorities confirmed that Curry’s remains were discovered at her burned property in Altadena, California. Her great-granddaughter, Dalyce Kelley, revealed that Curry was last seen on the evening of January 7 when Kelley dropped her off at home. The following morning, Kelley attempted to check on her but was blocked by police barricades in the area.

The family searched for Curry at the Pasadena Civic Centre, which had been designated as a shelter for displaced residents, but she was not located. Days later, officials confirmed that her remains were found at the site of her destroyed home. “About an hour ago the coroner confirmed her remains were indeed found at the property. #RIPMOMMADEE,” Kelley wrote on Facebook on January 12. “We had a great run. She impacted my life in so many ways. This loss is devastating.”

Curry’s granddaughter, Loree Beamer-Wilkinson, described her as “very active,” stating, “You would not think she was 95.” Her passing marks one of at least 24 fatalities reported in the Los Angeles area due to the wildfires.
