Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has officially been confirmed by Guinness World Records (GWR) for preparing the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice.
The record-setting event took place on September 12, 2025, at Eko Hotels and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The giant pot of jollof rice weighed an impressive 8,780 kilograms (19,356 lb 9 oz). The recipe included 4,000 kg of washed basmati rice, 168 kg of fresh goat meat, 500 cartons of tomato paste, 600 kg of onions, and other ingredients combined in a pot with a 23,000-liter capacity.
In a video shared by Hilda, she is seen shedding tears of joy, surrounded by her mother, friends, and supporters celebrating the historic achievement.
Despite the large crowd, Hilda ensured that none of the food went to waste by distributing it to people on the streets.
This achievement follows her earlier Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual in 2023.
Hilda’s success has brought global attention to Nigerian cuisine and reinforced her status as a cultural ambassador for Nigeria.
