The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet security agency have confirmed the elimination of Abd al-Hadi Sabah, a senior commander in Hamas’s elite Nukhba unit. Sabah was a key figure in the October 7, 2023, attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz, where dozens of civilians were killed and others kidnapped.
The operation targeted Sabah in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, an area designated as a humanitarian zone by Israel. According to the IDF, Sabah led the Nukhba platoon of Hamas’s West Khan Younis Battalion and was actively involved in multiple assaults on IDF forces during the ongoing conflict.
The strike is part of Israel’s broader efforts to dismantle Hamas’s military infrastructure and hold those responsible for the October 7 attack accountable. The IDF reported taking precautions to minimize civilian casualties during the operation.
Images released by the IDF show Sabah’s involvement in the Kibbutz Nir Oz invasion, reinforcing Israel’s commitment to targeting individuals linked to these violent acts. The military campaign against Hamas in Gaza remains ongoing.
