Suspected armed bandits have kidnapped a former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Major General Mahrazu Tsiga (retired), along with several residents of Tsiga village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, Nigeria.

The attack, which took place on Wednesday night, was confirmed by a local resident via a telephone call to Channels Television. The assailants, reportedly armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded Tsiga’s residence before abducting him and other villagers.

Although the Katsina State Government and police authorities are yet to issue an official statement, eyewitnesses confirmed that the retired military officer was among those taken captive.

Sources revealed that the attack lasted only a few minutes, during which two residents sustained injuries. Additionally, one of the gunmen was accidentally shot and killed by his colleagues.

The abduction has heightened security concerns in the region, which has witnessed a surge in banditry and kidnapping in recent years. Authorities are expected to launch an investigation and possible rescue efforts in response to the incident.
