Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has admitted his side faces a very difficult task after suffering a heavy defeat to Real Madrid in their Champions League clash. The Spanish coach acknowledged that City’s chances of overturning the result are slim following the 3-0 loss in the first leg.

Real Madrid delivered a dominant performance at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Federico Valverde scoring a remarkable hat-trick in the first half to put the Spanish giants firmly in control of the tie. The early goals left Manchester City struggling to recover as Madrid maintained control for much of the match.

After the game, Guardiola admitted that progressing to the next round would be extremely difficult given the three-goal deficit. He noted that his team currently has little chance of overturning the result but insisted that City will still attempt to fight back in the second leg.

Despite the defeat, the Manchester City manager said his players must analyse what went wrong and look for ways to improve, particularly in the attacking areas where they failed to convert their chances. He added that the team must become more effective in the final third if they hope to mount any comeback.

The result leaves Manchester City facing a major challenge ahead of the return leg, with Real Madrid holding a commanding advantage. Guardiola, however, maintained that his team will keep working and preparing for the next match, even though the odds of overturning the deficit appear very small.
