Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), has announced that the teenage girls rescued from human trafficking in Ghana are safe and will return to Nigeria next week. In an interview on TVC on Saturday, Dabiri-Erewa confirmed that the girls are in custody and arrangements are being made for their return.
The girls, over 10 in number, were allegedly trafficked to Ghana for prostitution but were rescued in a recent operation. Their return next week marks a successful end to a harrowing ordeal, and NIDCOM’s efforts to reunite them with their families.
Dabiri-Erewa’s announcement brings relief to the families and loved ones of the victims, who had been anxiously awaiting their return. The rescue and repatriation of the girls also highlight NIDCOM’s commitment to combating human trafficking and protecting Nigerian citizens abroad.
The incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing battle against human trafficking and the need for continued efforts to prevent such crimes. With the girls’ safe return imminent, attention will now focus on ensuring their rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
