The Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church in the Wenchi West District, Bono Region, Ghana, has honored 20 young girls for maintaining their virginity.

The girls, aged 13 to 16, were celebrated during a special Thanksgiving service organized by the Young Adventist Women Ministries of the Mid-West Ghana Conference.

According to reports from GhanaWeb, the initiative sought to promote moral integrity based on Christian and cultural values. The event included financial support for the girls and encouragement to prioritize education, faith, and wise decision-making.

Mrs. Nana Amponsah Poku, Coordinator of the Young Adventist Women Ministries, emphasized the program’s focus on fostering holistic development. She urged the girls to cherish their purity, make thoughtful decisions, and choose friends carefully in the coming year.

Highlighting traditional values, Mrs. Poku referenced rites such as Bragoro and Dipo, which historically reinforced virginity and reduced teenage pregnancies in Ghanaian culture.

Associate Pastor Andrews Dua Bour Kyereh commended the girls for their discipline and encouraged them to pursue education and spiritual growth. He also called on parents to actively guide their children in adopting virtuous lifestyles and instilling strong moral principles.
