Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has made history again as her latest movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa, becomes the fastest Nigerian film to gross N500 million, achieving the feat in just 12 days.
The record-breaking success was first reported by Tribune Online, which also highlighted that the film set a new benchmark for the highest single-day grossing Nollywood film, raking in N87.8 million on its strongest day.
Akindele took to Instagram to share the news with her fans, posting a celebratory graphic displaying the movie’s total earnings of N511 million. She expressed heartfelt gratitude, writing, “Thank you Lord!! Thank you everyone!!! I couldn’t have done this without your love and support!!!! God bless you all!!”
Everybody Loves Jenifa is the latest installment in the beloved Jenifa series, chronicling the humorous and relatable adventures of Jenifa, played by Funke Akindele. The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Falz, Nancy Isime, Stan Nze, and Layi, among others.
This achievement adds to Akindele’s long list of box office successes. Her 2023 movie, A Tribe Called Judah, still holds the record as the highest-grossing Nigerian cinema film of all time. With Everybody Loves Jenifa, Akindele cements her reputation as one of Nollywood’s most successful and influential filmmakers.
