Manchester City’s Phil Foden has been awarded the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Men’s Player of the Year for his outstanding performance in the English football club 2023-24 season. Chelsea winger Cole Palmer secured the Young Player of the Year title. This marks the first time since 2009-10 that both awards have gone to English players.
Foden, who scored 19 goals in 35 Premier League appearances, was instrumental in Manchester City’s fourth consecutive league title win. At 23, Foden became the youngest player to secure six league titles. In addition to the PFA honor, Foden was also named the Premier League Player of the Season and the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year.
Palmer, who netted 22 goals in 34 Premier League matches for Chelsea, earned his place in the England squad for Euro 2024, where he scored in the final against Spain. Although he missed out on the main PFA award, Palmer triumphed as Young Player of the Year, surpassing competitors such as Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho.
In the women’s categories, Manchester City’s Khadija Shaw won Player of the Year, while Manchester United’s Grace Clinton was named Young Player of the Year. The Premier League Team of the Year featured a strong presence from Manchester City and Arsenal players, including Erling Haaland, Rodri, and Martin Odegaard.
