President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria has called for African leaders to prioritize internal solutions to the continent’s challenges. Speaking at a dinner in his honor at the People’s Palace in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, Tinubu emphasized the need for African nations to harness their resources for their own progress.
“We must develop our resources and find solutions among ourselves,” Tinubu stated. He stressed the importance of focusing on research and development within Africa and ensuring that the results are implemented locally. He also highlighted the need for African leaders to address the ongoing brain drain by creating better opportunities for professionals within the continent.
“Why are we complaining about healthcare problems if our doctors and nurses face destitution here?” Tinubu questioned, urging the creation of a supportive environment for medical professionals.
President Tinubu thanked Equatorial Guinea’s President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo for the invitation and expressed a sense of unity between the two nations. He called for greater efforts to promote peace and stability across Africa, stressing that development is impossible without peace.
“Our problem is not that we do not understand what to do. Our problem is how and when we should do them. I say the time is now,” Tinubu concluded, urging collective action for the continent’s progress.
