Five individuals have been charged in connection with the tragic death of One Direction star Liam Payne in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The 31-year-old singer died on October 16 after falling from a third-floor hotel balcony.
Among those charged are the hotel manager, Gilda Martin, receptionist Esteban Grassi, and Payne’s friend Roger Nores, who have been accused of manslaughter. Additionally, Ezequiel Pereyra, another hotel worker, and Braian Paiz, a waiter, face charges of supplying drugs.
According to the prosecutor’s office, medical reports revealed that Payne’s fall resulted in multiple trauma and hemorrhaging, with evidence suggesting he may have been unconscious at the time of the incident, ruling out the possibility of a conscious act. Prior to his fall, hotel staff had called emergency services, reporting that Payne had consumed excessive amounts of drugs and alcohol.
The investigation is ongoing, with Judge Laura Bruniard moving the case to the trial phase. If the defendants’ appeals are unsuccessful, the trial will proceed. Payne’s death has sparked widespread mourning, with his former One Direction bandmates and family attending his funeral in November.
