A tragic fire incident early Monday morning claimed the lives of the daughter and three grandchildren of Alhaji Muhammadu Bello Sifawa, the Secretary to the Sokoto State Government.
The victims, including the daughter of Alhaji Sifawa, were trapped alongside her children while they slept. Her husband, Alhaji Muhammadu Yusuf Bello, Permanent Secretary in the Sokoto State Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, survived the incident.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, while the Sokoto State Fire Service battled for hours to contain the blaze.
The remains of the victims are set to be buried at the Sheikh Shehu Usmanu Danfodiyo Mosque in Sifawa later today. The tragedy has drawn an outpouring of grief and support, with Sokoto’s Deputy Governor, Eng. Idris Mohammed Gobir, members of the State Executive Council, APC leaders, and sympathizers visiting the bereaved family to express their condolences.
