A massive fire broke out at the Ajah Market near Alesh Bus Stop in Lagos State, Nigeria, late Sunday night, causing extensive damage to goods worth millions of naira. The blaze reportedly started around 9 p.m., consuming multiple shops filled with combustible materials.

Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), confirmed that emergency responders from both LASEMA and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services quickly arrived at the scene to contain the flames. However, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown.

Oke-Osanyintolu stated, “The LASEMA Response Team, along with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, managed to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring buildings. Efforts are ongoing to fully extinguish the fire and salvage any remaining valuables.”

Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported, as the market was closed for the day, and traders were not present. The incident has left many traders devastated as they await further updates and assessment of the damage.
