A devastating fire has razed multiple buildings in the Idumota area of Lagos State, Nigeria, destroying goods worth millions of naira at a major spare parts market.

The incident, which occurred on Friday night, was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, in a statement released on Saturday.

LASEMA responded promptly after receiving distress calls, with teams from Lekki, Cappa, and the Command and Control Centre in Ikeja arriving on the scene at around 10:55 pm. The fire engulfed several shops selling car spare parts, causing significant damage.

As of the report, the exact cause of the fire had not been determined. However, Oke-Osanyintolu reassured the public that no casualties or injuries had been reported. Firefighting efforts from the LASEMA Fire Unit, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, and the Federal Fire Service helped contain the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings.

Recovery operations are currently ongoing, with valuable items being salvaged from the affected shops.
